  2. Pronunciation is a really important factor and also has a great effect on communication nowadays. Poor pronunciation may cause to a lot of serious effects, like having a hard time understanding other international languages, and most of all having a difficult time communicating with other people like the German coast guard in the video. Have i ever had a similar experience? Yes i have, i remember once in Austria i was trying to tell a guy that i wanted to use his phone, but he couldn't understand english, so after 10 minutes of boring discussion i've started to use my hand as a phone, so after all he understood the signal and handed me the phone.

  3. Fair enough.Actually I've seen this commerical before. Poor or incorrect pronouncation may make other people who is talking to you confused. They may misunderstand the point that you're trying to state. As a result, your poor pronouncation may cause a negative effect just as the movie posted.
Definately I've gone through such an awkward experience. Once my american asked me what my major was ,I just said 'fiance(I put the emphasis in the front of syllable),but they just couldn't understand. I was embarrassed because I thought there was nothing wrong of the pronouncation. Afterwards I explained the details and finally they understood. It turned out that I needed to put the emphasis in the middle of the syllable, like fi'nance. See, if you failed to pronounce correctly, you would make others confused and misunderstand what you are trying to express.

  4. I like this commercial. It is difficult for Japanese people to pronounce "Th"sound. When I pronounce "Th", I always pronounce "S". So, when I pronounce "Thinking", I pronounce "Sinking", too. "R" and "L" sounds are also difficult for me. Joking apart, it is important for us to study English. I have heard that we can speak English if we can pronounce English correctly. So we have to practice pronunciation. We always have to try to pronounce English in our house. I practice pronounciation secretly!

  5. It’s a really funny commercial, but not affairs of other people. I’m now having a great difficulty in pronouncing “R” and “TH”. I think most of Japanese usually doesn’t move actively their lips, tongues, and jaws when they speak. It’s just like to move a long finger of foot solely.
Anyway, It maybe true that we cannot communicate with native speaker without right pronunciation. At the same time I’d like to become able to listen to native speaker, especially movies which I like.

  6. Be honest, i had ever been in this kind of situation when i was in the recreation center. That was a friday night, i went to the center to play basketball, and i tried to communicate with a nice guy who looks like very kindly, i wanna talk about Jeremy Lin, but that guy don't know who he is. So i explained it to him, and i said jeremy lin is a guard of Knicks.(It's a NBA team) About the guard, i had a poor pronunciation, so the nice guy can not understand, so i gave him a example, he is not a center, not a forward. So that he could understand me in sort. From that experience, i know how important the pronunciation is. So i always watch Youtube, and try to pronunciation like a America, but it's really hard for us.

  7. hahahaha...nice video I can't stop laughing :)
Anyway, in my opinion pronunciation is very important. Especially, when it come to emergency. For example, if you call 911 you need to pronounce the name of your street correctly otherwise, they can't come and help you. Pronouncing the lettres can be hard sometimes and this is because of mother tongues.I recommend all students to try as much as they can to improve their pronunciation. And about if i had a similar experience ? No. I met a lot of people who can't pronounce the word correctly, but i never had trouble with it ^_^ .

  8. When I studied English first time in the U.S, an English accent and pronunciation was so hard for me. Of course, I'm still hard that ^^. Korean doesn't accent and pitch in sentences. So when I heard that native speaker talk to something, I thought that is a sing. Also I have funny story about my pronunciation. One day, I went to buy fried chicken. The worker asked me, "what flavor do you want? spicy? or original?" I wanted to buy half and half flavor. So I said, "Give me half and half." But he just looked at me for a while. Later I realized that my pronunciation's problem. He thought I talked to him "help and help". I was so so embaressed. Oh, my poor pronunciation! Until now, "half and half" pronunciation is really hard for me.

  9. Pronounciation is important for communication. Usually, japanese people have to learn hard for correct pronounciation. Because, English has charactaristic pronounciations. Many japanse people can not differentiate "r" and "l". I don't have special experience about pronouciation trouble. But, I often happened small communicate problem for my bad pronounciation. So, we have to study hard not only grammer, but also pronounciation.

  10. I have seen this commercial before.I am really stressed at pronounciation. It's too difficult for Asian people. I feel frustrated and embarrassed, When people don't understand what I am saying. It is hard to pronounce a word correctly. I have some experiences about wrong pronounciation.
I went to the Starbucks and I ordered "Tall Americano", but he gave me "Two Americano". How can I pronounce like a native speaker? There remains a long road ahead. ㅠ.ㅠ

  11. OMG pronunciation one of my weakness in English. I usually face misunderstanding with American because of this. At the earlier days on Tucson I went to Johnny Rockets resturant, and asked them coca and he was like a littel shocking but my nephew was there he corrected me! And I always mis butter pronunciation I always spell it to grocery. I embarrassed to keep asking this question what did you say for American people:(

  12. I did presentation last Friday in speaking class. I wanted to explain crow native american tribe's mean. It was children of large beaked bird. When I said that mean at first, paul understood beaked to black. So I said one more time, but i didn't understand... i had to tell him each word's spelling. Actually, these experiences are common for me. It is because Korean and English are totally different. I try to practice correct pronounciation, but it is always difficult..

  13. Poor pronunciation is the cause of misunderstanding in any conversions. Maybe you could make a big conflict or problem as shown in the video. In some profession such as announcer or broadcaster, if they are not good in pronunciation, listener might get the error information. For example, I always face with the poor pronunciation, and teachers ask me what I am speaking. I have to repeat my words again, and I sometimes explain meaning of that word. Actually, I wish I can pronounce English as well as the native speaker do. I realize that it takes a lot of effort and practicing. Although, when I am speaking my first language, I cannot pronoun some words correctly.
